| The ICSD initiative is co-chaired
by Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, Director- Earth Institute
& Special Advisor to the Secretary- General of the United Nations
and Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, TERI &
Chairman, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Mr
Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman of
the Planning Commission, Government of India, is the distinguished
patron of this body. Hence the work of the Council would be suitably
fed into the plans and development strategies of the Government of
India.
In addition the Council operates under the able guidance of its distinguished members comprising leaders in government, industry and academia from both overseas and India. Members of the India Council comprises of leaders in government, industry and academia from both overseas and India. The diversity of expertise of the members enables the Council to bring different perspectives together. The members are chosen on account of eminence, to reflect the wisdom of leaders from all fields. The members meet annually to discuss the progress of the activities of the Council and define a way forward. On other occasions, the Council secretariat seeks feedback on any specific activity from the members electronically. TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) on an ongoing basis provides
the Secretariat support to the Council.
